Starbucks’ Community Stores
Starbucks’ Community Stores Show Importance of Localisation
With more than 38,000 stores worldwide, it might be easy to think that one Starbucks store is much the same as another. But the brand has a growing pocket of interesting community-focused spaces that show the value of localisation.
These Community Stores are unique concepts that are designed around the local community’s culture, character and needs. This has led to highly individualised spaces, such as stores where staff are fluent in American Sign Language. Community Stores also support local non-profit organisations and cultural heritage preservation.
Starbucks has a goal of reaching 1,000 Community Stores globally by 2030. This might only be a small percentage of its overall store count, but it shows the importance the brand is placing on localisation as a point of difference from its competitors.
