Meet Shayna Brown, a talented designer specializing in premium packaging, known for her love of letterpress printing, Pantone colors, and meticulous details.
After relocating from the USA to Spain and navigating life as a mother, Shayna found the perfect creative recharge through EPDA: “The EPDA was exactly what I needed to reconnect with a vibrant creative community in Europe and reignite my creative spirit.” From her favorite design tools (Adobe Illustrator & Wacom tablet) to her love for aerobic dance, coffee art, and travel, Shayna’s passion for creativity extends beyond design.

1. Highlight of being a member of EPDA?
"Describe a key experience or moment of truth you experienced as a member of the EPDA community"
After the birth of my second child, I had struggled to find my creative voice and get back into the swing of things, especially while balancing personal life and adjusting to life in Spain after moving from the US. The EPDA was exactly what I needed to reconnect with a vibrant creative community here in Europe and reignite my creative spirit. Being around so many welcoming people at the Bordeaux conference, all speaking the same creative language, made it easy to connect and make new friends.
2. Design Inspiration?
"Who is your biggest reference or inspiration in design?"
It’s more of a what than a who… but Letterpress printing sparked my love for the basics like movable type, Pantone colors, and grids. Working with this layered printing technique taught me to embrace simplicity and precision, letting the eye move smoothly from one element to the next. I’m inspired by the timeless beauty of thoughtful design—whether in typography, architecture, or the way details come together to create something meaningful.
3. Favorite Creative Tool or Design Gadget?
"What is your “can’t live without it – thing” when it comes to design? Be it software, technical device, design trash .."
Adobe Illustrator and my trusty Wacom tablet are essentials. I can't even remember the last time I used a regular mouse!
4. Fun Fact?
"Share a fun fact about yourself that most people don't know."
A fun fact about me: I have a twin sister! So, if you ever see someone who looks just like me but with a slightly different vibe, you’re probably not imagining things.
5. Hobby or Interest?
"What are some of your favorite hobbies or interests outside of design?”
Outside of design, I enjoy staying active with aerobic dance - it's fun and keeps the endorphins flowing (cue fewer bad moods). Mornings are spent trying to perfect the art of steamed milk and coffee art (emphasis on trying). I also love winding down after a long day with movies, TV shows, and snacks… always snacks. Shopping is another favorite of mine, whether it’s hunting for unique finds or just leisurely browsing - I always feel better after a trip to the shops. Or honestly, any trip in general… travel is high on the list! And of course, indulging in good food, as long as it’s not spicy!
6. What is your favourite colour combination and why?
Olive green and dusty rose is my favorite color combination. I love a good muted color palette.
